RGT 10 Pin Bowling Competition
Message from Trevor Eley of the Area Committee:
Hi all,
Just a few more days to Wash, and I know you’re all thinking, “but once this weekend’s over there’s nothing to look forward to between Wash and Christmas”. But good news, especially if you haven’t been invited to Francesca’s birthday do, those lovely people on the Area Committee bring you the “RGT Bowling Competition” to brighten up these dark days.
There’s another of our lovely posters attached telling you all about it, like it’s on Sunday 7th December, at Romford Namco’s at 2 p.m. If you want more details contact me or any of the committee members.
See you at the weekend (well quite a few of you anyway).
Regards
Trev.
WASH: Additional Sunday Evening Theme
From Paul Catterwell of the Wash Committee:
Hi all
As I am sure many of you are aware, in late August Lance Creed of Barnet Plus, lost his long and brave battle with illness. He was a long time member of Plus and a staunch supporter of WASH.
Lance was a season ticket holder at Watford FC, and as a mark of respect we would like to run a second theme on the Sunday at WASH 2014.
As well as royalty, the other theme will be red, yellow and black, whcih are Watford’s team colours.

Programme update!
Barking & Dagenham Plus are preparing for Autumn already! Whilst others think about getting out the winter duvets, putting the central heating on, and finally getting round to fixing that light in the kitchen, we here at Plus instead come up with a packed programme of Activities. Amongst other things we will be venturing round the countryside to Cambridge and to Hunstanton, for the famous National Holiday known as WASH. We will also be getting a lot of ten-pin bowling practice in for the Area Championship in December.
For more details, please see out Events page.
Members of Chadwell Heath-based community group “Barking & Dagenham Plus” were feeling flushed with success last tuesday when they staged their Annual Poker Tournament at the White Horse Inn. So popular did it prove that card-sharps from all over Essex converged on the venue to test their Texas Hold’em skills.
The overall winner of the evening was Miss Gemma Crader, 23 (see picture).
Club-chairman Richard Leach said:
“Our Poker tournament is such a draw, that next year we are planning to up the ante and use it as a charitable fund-raising event.”
Barking & Dagenham Plus is a social group for young adults aged 18 and over, which helps out local causes as well as providing an enjoyable time for its members. It meets every Tuesday evening from 9pm at the White Horse, Chadwell Heath. For more information, including how to join, please phone Joe on 07958 669339, or visit http://www.barkingdagenhamplus.com
Area Day Trip To Hastings
This from Trevor Eley, A&SEA Plus Area Treasurer:
For those going by train, we’re catching the 9.33 train from London Bridge, which should get us to Hastings for 11 o’clock, where we’ll meet with anyone who hasn’t gone by train, outside the station. Cost from London Bridge is £31.10, but if you’ve got a railcard or there’s a group of 3 or more, you should be able to get it for £20.55.

If you have seen strange people dressed as pirates and monsters from Doctor Who wandering the streets of Barking and other parts of Essex, you will be pleased to know that their efforts have finally paid off! Last Tuesday, the members of local social group “Barking & Dagenham Plus” handed over the results of their charitable fund-raising activities to Woodford Green based children’s Hospice “Haven House.”
Rebecca Cushway, Community Events Manager at Haven House, visited the group at their venue, the White Horse in Chadwell Heath, and gave a presentation on the work of the charity, which includes providing an enjoyable environment to children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions – and giving much needed relief to their parents. She was then presented with a cheque for £600 by Richard Leach, the club’s chairman.
Richard said:
“We usually do a sponsored walk every September. We have also staged successful Darts Tournaments and other fund-raising events throughout the year, and in 2014 we intend to better our last year’s total – and all the time providing a fun social atmosphere for our members.”
