Gemma’s Birthday Bash

May 26, 2013

On Saturday we all went to the Valentine, in Gant’s Hill, to celebrate the *cough* 21st *cough* birthday of our chair Gemma. Once Bayern Munich had soundly thrashed Borussia Dortmund, we were treated to a performance by our favourite band, East of Java.

Official CommuniquĂ© From Roland Rat (Superstar) to B&D Plus!

February 13, 2013
Roland Rat, Superstar. Yeahhhhh!

Roland Rat, Superstar. Yeahhhhh!

Around this time of year it is traditional for the President to make his address on the State of the Union. But whilst the people of the United States of America have to put up with some Johnny Fly-By-Night called “Barack Obama,” we here in Barking & Dagenham Plus have our own President – namely Roland Rat, Superstar.

Yes indeed, Sir Roland Rat has graciously consented to be our Honorary Club President. Roland now spends most of his time pursuing the Superstar lifestyle in Los Angeles, but he often corresponds with us via our club secretary (and number 1 Ratfan) Sanya.

We are honoured to have such an eminent dignitary bestow us with his favour: and furthermore, we are particularly grateful for Roland sending us a message on his recent re-appointment as President:

“ALWAYS AN HONOUR TO SERVE AS CLUB PRESIDENT OF THE B&D PLUS GROUP FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
LET’S RAISE OUR GLASSES AND DRINK A TOAST TO MANY MORE YEARS OF FUN FOR YA ALL IN EXOTIC BARKIN’ AND DAGENHAM YOU LUCKY PEOPLE YEAHHHHHHHH!!! LUV ROLAND RAT 2013”

“Local Community Group To Do Nude Sponsored Walk For Children’s Hospice.”

February 7, 2013
Staggering through the streets of Barking and Dagenham dressed as pirates and hosting darts tournaments came to fruition last tuesday for Barking & Dagenham Plus when they presented a cheque for the money they raised to Haven House Children Hospice. Barking & Dagenham Plus, a social group for young adults, managed to raise ÂŁ523. Charlotte Terry received the cheque on behalf of the charity, and also gave a short presentation on the work of the Hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions from all over north and east London and west Essex.
Said Barking & Dagenham group chair, Gemma Crader (22):
“We have re-adopted Haven House as our chosen charity this year, and intend to raise even more money for it – at least ÂŁ750. One suggestion is to have another sponsored walk again, but this time in the nude. And not through the streets of Dagenham!”
The local branch of PLUS meets at the White Horse Pub, Chadwell Heath, every Tuesday evening at 9pm. We welcome new membership enquiries. For more information phone Joe on 07958 669339 or visit our website: www.barkingdagenhamplus.com

Barking & Dagenham Plus Club AGM 2013

February 6, 2013

Last night, Charlotte Terry of Haven House Children’s Hospice visited us at the White Horse Pub in Chadwell Heath, where we were holding our club AGM. Charlotte gave a presentation on the work of the Hospice, which is for life-limited children up to the age of 19, and showed us a DVD of them in action. Whilst there, we handed her a cheque for ÂŁ523, which we had raised through our sponsored walk and darts tournament.
