“Local Community Group To Do Nude Sponsored Walk For Children’s Hospice.”
February 7, 2013
Staggering through the streets of Barking and Dagenham dressed as pirates and hosting darts tournaments came to fruition last tuesday for Barking & Dagenham Plus when they presented a cheque for the money they raised to Haven House Children Hospice. Barking & Dagenham Plus, a social group for young adults, managed to raise £523. Charlotte Terry received the cheque on behalf of the charity, and also gave a short presentation on the work of the Hospice, which cares for children with life-limiting conditions from all over north and east London and west Essex.
Said Barking & Dagenham group chair, Gemma Crader (22):
“We have re-adopted Haven House as our chosen charity this year, and intend to raise even more money for it – at least £750. One suggestion is to have another sponsored walk again, but this time in the nude. And not through the streets of Dagenham!”
The local branch of PLUS meets at the White Horse Pub, Chadwell Heath, every Tuesday evening at 9pm. We welcome new membership enquiries. For more information phone Joe on 07958 669339 or visit our website: www.barkingdagenhamplus.com
