Members of a local community group commemorated the anniversary of one of their deceased friends at the weekend: with a sponsored walk to raise money for Macmillan Nurses, and Bright Horizons Foundation For Children.

Barking & Dagenham Plus, a social group for young adults, staged a sponsored walk from Barking Station to the City Pavillion in Collier Row on Saturday 2nd September. The walk was six miles long and collectively they raised over £600 in doing so.
Club chairman Richard Leach explained:

“Every September we hold a charity fundraising event, in honour of one of our former members who died of Cancer. We’re very pleased – we’ve raised twice as much as we did this time last year. We’d like to express our deep gratitude to all our donors.

“We also put on other events throughout the year: we intend to be staging a Charity Darts Tournament in Chadwell Heath, later in 2016.”

Barking & Dagenham Plus meets every Tuesday from 9pm at the Tollgate in Chadwell Heath, and is always interested in receiving new membership enquiries. For more information please phone Joe on 07958 669339, or visit http://www.barkingdagenhamplus.com

WASH Waffle: August 16

August 18, 2016

Methinks Paul Catterwell was drunk when he typed this, because he immediately after he announces an aqua aerobics session in the all singing all dancing heated indoor swimming pool, he says “See you at the bar!” What? Not joining in with all that exercise??? 😉

Hi all

Just 22 days to deadline day and 78 days to WASH 2016

Bookings are going really well and I am likely to be proved wrong, as numbers look the same, if not a little up on last year.

NEW FOR 2016 HEATED INDOOR SWIMMING POOL

Will be open at various times over the weekend and we are hoping to have an aqua aerobics session.

See you at the bar!
