Press Release

September 26, 2007

Matt our ever faithful PRO has outdone himself this time, by getting out this Press Release even faster than the official Barking & Dagenham Press Release!

Last week Joe, the faithful Secretary Thurrock Plus Group (formerly Thurrock 18 Plus Group), went on a charity sponsored walk around Brentwood and Shenfield in aid of Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, while other members of the group were in a nice cosy cinema. The route went via two pubs, though apparently Joe swears only one was open, followed by a visit to the sanctuary itself. Joe is still counting the money raised for the Sanctuary, as are the organisers from Barking and Dagenham Plus, the total is expected to be several hundred pounds. Joe said “I would like to thank all fellow club members who sponsored me, even the one who sponsored the £1.29p!”

This coming weekend Thurrock members will be visiting their friends at Barking and Dagenham Plus for a live band night to celebrate the clubs 30th anniversary. Upcoming events in the East Anglia Area and nationally will be the National Holiday in Turkey, the National Pool competition and activity holiday in Yorkshire (called NEAT) and the national live entertainment weekend in Hunstanton (WASH).

Thurrock Plus is a lively and friendly sports and social organisation for people in the 18 to 35 age range; it is run completely by its members and offers a wide-ranging programme of regular events, often in conjunction with other groups in East Anglia Area. New members are always welcome. Anyone who is interested can contact
