Press Release
Last weekend saw members of Thurrock Plus Group (formerly known as Thurrock 18 plus Group) join other members from around the East Anglia Plus Area for a Jack the Ripper walk in London. They visited three of the famous (or rather infamous) sites at which the murders took place, sadly though, one of them was covered by a multi-storey car park! However some of the nearby buildings still dated from the late Victorian era and looked largely as they would have done during the Rippers time, which contributed to a fairly realistic atmosphere. A good time was had by all and at the end of the tour the members all elected to have a drink at the pub where victim number 2, Annie Chapman, had her last drink. The pub had not changed much in terms of décor since the 1880’s. The next night the members all went clubbing in Basildon. The following weekend some of the members went to the Kings Lynn summer party with BBQ and camp over with the national rounders competition.
Upcoming events in the East Anglia Area will be the new Mad Weekend at Milton Keynes (involving Karting, skiing, abseiling and other activities, the new Annual Surf weekend in Cornwall, a trip to Centre Parcs and a trip to the Belgian beer festival.
Thurrock Plus is a lively and friendly sports and social organisation for people in the 18 to 35 age range; it is run completely by its members and offers a wide-ranging programme of regular events, often in conjunction with other groups in East Anglia Area. New members are always welcome. Anyone who is interested can contact…
