Mini WASH

July 23, 2006

This Sunday, members of Thurrock attended Kings Lynn Plus’ Midsummer Mini-Break in Tottenhill, near Kings Lynn. There were around 40 Plussers who turned up, including members of Havering, Redbridge, Romford, Brentwood, Bishops Stortford and others from Northern, Midlands and even Southern Areas. As well as Kings Lynn Plus themselves! Here are some of my observations from the weekend:

There were no showers at the site, save those provided by Mother Nature herself. Unfortunately I was away from my wash bag and towel when the heavens opened, so I was forced to take care of my ablutions in a more traditional manner. We eventually found some showers at a sports centre in Kings Lynn itself.

Saturday afternoon was the National Rounders. Your Humble Blogmaster scored several rounders and got loads of people out (or so I seem to remember). The event ended promptly at 4pm, when a burst of inclemet weather exactly coincided with the time we should be heading back for the Barbecue.

I would like to thank new Midlands Area Chairman, Adam Redshaw, for introducing me to Desperado Beer. This fine draught is beer flavoured with Tequila, with subtle hints of lime, and is 5.9% ABV. It is available from Beers of Europe, a nearby Beer warehouse that we have frequented in the past. I have already made a mental note to stock up on them for WASH!

I should also like to thank Jo Miller and Matt Cutler for generously giving us lifts in their respective cars over the weekend.
