Charity Darts Night – Part 1
Barking & Dagenham Plus staged the first of its Charity Darts Nights at its club-night on Tuesday at the White Horse in Chadwell Heath. This was organised by our Nick, in aid of Haven House, our chosen charity for 2011. The two winners were both from the pub’s mens darts team, as it happened. Chappy was presented with a box of chocolates:
Whilst Martin was presented with a bottle of wine:
We have raised over £100 so far, however: there is still more to come! Our second darts night is next Tuesday and promises to be even more exciting than the first one.
Bowling
Saturday evening and seven of us went 10 Pin Bowling at the Dagenham Bowl. Yours truly scored 171 over two games (not my personal best) – although certain people scored more – although they did have the bumpers up!
Tuesday we are meeting at the White Horse in Chadwell Heath again, from 8.30pm, where we will be having the first of our two Charity Darts Matches – in aid of Haven House.
It’s Just A Jump To The Left…
Barking & Dagenham Plus is currently conducting a publicity drive, so Saturday morning saw members of the club distributing flyers in Chadwell Heath.
Later that evening we went to the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch, to see a production of the Rocky Horror Show. Some of us who could not get tickets for this sold out production had to make do with actual Rock instead, by going to see East Of Java at the Cauliflower in Seven Kings, Ilford.
A-Chelmsford We Will Go
Last night as a break from the usual a posse of us went and visited Chelmsford Plus on their club-night, where our Richard ran “Taboo.” Â Chelmsford Plus meets once a month on the first Wednesday, at the Marconi Club, Beehive Lane in Galleywood. Chelmsford is one of our newer Plus groups and is looking to expand its membership (any requests received by me will be forwarded on!).
Members of PLUS are positively encouraged to go round visiting other groups. The Area also runs a “Footsore Competition” in which the Group which has clocked up the most mileage doing visits during the year gets a trophy.
Indoor Bowling
Tuesday was our regular club-night at the White Horse Inn, in Chadwell Heath. Gemma ran Indoor Bowling, which was won by Dave, despite the fact that he arrived late.
This Saturday if you see strange people wandering the streets of Barking and Dagenham handing out leaflets, don’t worry that’s probably us. We will be doing a publicity drive: starting at 10am from our venue (we will meet back there for lunch afterwards).
In the evening some of us are going to see the Rocky Horror Show in Hornchurch, which I believe is now booked up. Otherwise, the rest of us are going to see East of Java at the Cauliflower.
Please note that this Sunday is also the deadline for paying the full balance for the National Holiday. If anyone wants to go on this but has not yet paid, please contact Richard our treasurer ASAP.
Forthcoming Darts Charity Night
We will be holding two Darts Charity Nights – on Tuesday June 14th and Tuesday June 21st. This is being run by Nick in co-operation with the White Horse Inn (our venue) itself. All proceeds will go to Haven House, which is our chosen charity this year.
This means that there has been a slight alteration to our programme of events. Dave’s National Battleships Tournament has been moved from the 21st to the 28th, whilst the events that were due to take place on the 14th and 28th have been postponed sine die.
For more information please see our Events page.

Brain of Britain Quiz
Tuesday night Barking & Dagenham staged its first annual Brain of Britain Quiz, run by Richard and AJ. By far the runaway winners were a team consisting of Charlie, Paul, Gavin and Joe.
