WASH Waffle

October 12, 2018

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hi all

Its only 21 days to WASH!

For those of you not on the Wash Appreciation Society page, we had a great meeting with the team at Woodlands on Wednesday evening, some of them were doing unpaid overtime to be there. They are so enthusiastic about us returning as they were so impressed by what we put on, and more importantly how friendly all of you were.

Food will follow broadly the same as last year, (and we know the food is really good), so we wont starve or have to go foraging like we did at the previous venue!

We still have a few places left due to some moving around and using up of spare places. Because we have had to pay for the accommodation in advance for each place left unsold we will lose £93.00 on each space, so can we please urge you to bully, cajole, nag, offer bribes, etc to anyone who was still thinking about it. As you may be aware we subsidised last years event and made a loss which ate into our balance at the end of the year, and if we make a similar loss this year there is a possibility that financially we may not be able to run another WASH.

If you know of anyone who may be interested let me know and I would be happy to have a chat and see what I can sort and then play more accommodation bingo.

See you in 3 weeks

WASH Waffle – Who Wants to Still Come?

September 11, 2018

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hi all

Just 51 days to WASH

We have been made aware that whilst some groups are not attending for different reasons, there are individuals or couples who may still want to come but were unsure as to how booking could work.

If your group are not attending and you would like to come please get in touch with me by email or text on 07860 465463 and I can sort out accommodation for you. I will endeavour to put you in with people who you are happy to share with. I know Tina and Adrian are not able to attend this year and to spare them the hassle of booking anybody from Didcot who wants to book can book with us.

We are away from Thursday until the 22nd September in Turkey so please don’t think I am ignoring you, I will get back to you when I am back.

Come on, lets have a party!!!

WASH Waffle: August 2018

August 17, 2018

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hi Plussers

Thought we would bring you right up to date with all things WASH.

Over the weekend you may have seen on Facebook that it was stated that there was no room and if anyone now wish to book, they would need to be accommodated off site. This sounds like a mis-communication and we can confirm that any late bookers WILL BE ACCOMMODATED ON SITE

Bookings are going really well and despite there being 20 less spaces by playing around with spare places we do not anticipate more than about 9 spaces available less than last year. Even then we have an option or 2, so please do not think that if you have not booked yet that you can’t as we will get you sorted.

All the acts are booked and we are very happy with the quality and variety of the acts.

For those who have paid deposits please can we have your balances by 31st August as we have to pay for the accommodation by 8 weeks before the event.

If you are thinking about coming or have not been for a while JUST BOOK IT! The accommodation is awesome, the food is great, they do not run out of beer, SKY sports is on and the staff want us there.

See you all soon

WASH Waffle: October 2017

October 26, 2017

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hello all

Can’t believe its only 8 days to WASH

I am delighted to announce that the numbers have held up brilliantly in this year of change.  In fact we are only 1 down on last year.  If you have anybody who would still like to come get in touch and I will see what I can arrange.

As you may be aware the venue also operates as a restaurant to the general public on a Sunday lunchtime, offering a carvery from 12noon to 3.00pm.  It is usually almost fully booked, but if you fancy it you MAY still  be able to book a table.  To do this you will need to contact the venue on 01263 579208.  The restaurant will re-open at 5.30pm to 8.00pm with the normal menu.

Walking Towards A Bright Horizon (Press Release)

September 26, 2017

A charity for children and families in crisis was the focus of importance last weekend as members of a local community group went on a ten-mile sponsored walk.

Richard, Dave, Sanya and Gemma at Whitechapel, the start of the sponsored walk.

Barking & Dagenham Plus, a social, sporting and leisure group, set off from Whitechapel on Saturday, walking via Stratford, to Chadwell Heath, in order to raise money for “Bright Horizons Foundation For Children,” which provides play environments in places such as domestic violence shelters, to enable them to play, learn and heal from trauma in a place of safety. The walkers managed to raise £400 as a result of their efforts.

Club chairman Richard Leach said:

“Although we are mainly a fun group, we always like to support local good causes, and last year won an award from the National Federation of Plus Areas for doing so. We also like to stage an event like this each September to commemorate our former member Adrian Pembroke who passed away several years ago.

“We will be presenting the cheque to Bright Horizons at one of our regular Tuesday-night meetings in the near future, at the Beacon Tree.”

WASH Waffle – ‘Project ‘Sell Out’

August 4, 2017

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus:

3 MONTHS TODAY IS WASH 2017!

It seems hard to believe but it really is getting close. Just had a committee meeting and the final band has been chosen.

Many thanks to all the groups who have sent in deposits and balances to date. Last year we had 133 attend, and with your support this year we have 130 already booked and:

WE HAVE ONLY 10 SPACES LEFT!!!

If you have individuals or larger numbers who still want to come who are undecided, we will accommodate, even if we as a committee have to give up our beds

Come on guys, lets see if we can sell out and show Woodland Park what we are about (and Manor Park what they are missing!)

See you in 3 months
