Getting Active with Barking & Dagenham Plus (Press Release)
Barking & Dagenham Plus, the social group for young adults, today revealed its programme of activities for the forthcoming six months. These include regional sporting events such as Tennis and Badminton tournaments, a weekend break to Brean Sands in Somerset, and a number of events to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the National Federation of Plus Areas, including a 1940s-themed Summer Ball.
Looking ahead to later in the year, the group will also be undertaking its annual sponsored walk, which this year will be in aid of Haven House. Barking & Dagenham’s chairwoman Gemma Crader, 21, said:
“In addition to having fun, we always support local charities. For example last year we raised money for Richard House, and I had the honour of presenting them with a cheque for £450. In the past we have supported other causes such as Macmillan Nurses and Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood. We decide our chosen charity from suggestions made by our members.”
Barking & Dagenham Plus meets every Tuesday at the White Horse Inn, High Road, Chadwell Heath from 9pm. New member enquiries are always welcome.
