Last weekend saw Thurrock 18 Plus Group organise a surfing weekend in Cornwall. They were joined by members of other 18 Plus groups from East Anglia Area and travelled down on the Friday, returning on the following Monday. The weather was mixed but the surfing conditions were mostly good and all members of the party got some serious body-boarding in and some of them took a few lessons in proper surfing at the Harlyn Surf School on the North Coast of Cornwall near Padstow. Fortunately no-one was eaten by the sharks that were rumoured to be lurking around the Cornish coast, the only casualty was Matt’s runaway surfboard –last spotted heading due south-west across the Atlantic for the West Indies! Everyone had a great time and agreed that the surfing weekend was a good mini-holiday which should be run again next year, with more people attending the surf school for a proper course in surfing.

Upcoming events in the East Anglia Area will be the Visit to Chislehurst Caves, the Multi Activity weekend in Mepal Cambridgeshire (including water sports, climbing and shooting) and the National holiday abroad in Ibiza.

Thurrock 18 Plus is a lively and friendly sports and social organisation for people in the 18 to 35 age range; it is run completely by its members and offers a wide-ranging programme of regular events, often in conjunction with other groups in East Anglia Area.
