WASH 2020 Dates

November 22, 2019
tags:

From Paul Catterwell, of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hi all
Hardly seems possible that its a fortnight since WASH, which for many was one of the best we have had the pleasure of organising.
Next year’s dates are Friday 13th November to Monday 16th November 2020.
In fact this year’s event was deemed so good that for the first time ever we have had deposits for nearly 20% of those who attended this year!
IMPORTANT:  THERE ARE ONLY 76 HOT TUB BERTHS AVAILABLE (not including anyone who wishes to sleep on a sofa at half price), SO WILL BE ON A STRICTLY FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.  The 10 berth cottage does not have a hot tub but has lots of other goodies!
If you would like to organise your group’s deposits and send them to me I will add you to the list.

RGT Bowling 2019

November 19, 2019

Sanya Preston: Best Female

Congratulations to Barking & Dagenham Plus’ Sanya Preston as the Best Female in this Saturday’s Roy Gordon Trophy (“RGT”) Bowling Tournament.

In the team competition, Barking & Dagenham Plus came second by a mere one point to Redbridge Plus. Grrr! The scene is set for an epic re-match next year!

Some shady character trying to pinch Redbridge Plus’ trophy…

Oh no, it was actually Redbridge Plus’ Publicity Officer, Elliot Barclay!

Halloween!

October 29, 2019

Pumpkin Carving for Halloween

Tonight, in advance of Halloween in two days’ time, members of Barking & Dagenham Plus held their annual Pumpkin Carving competition at the Beacon Tree in Dagenham.

The winning entry was by B&D member Kim (on the right. I.e. her winning entry is on the right, not Kim herself!). The Pub was so impressed they donated the prize of a meal for two!

That’s Kim’s on the right!

WASH Trip to Norwich

October 22, 2019

Norwich

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hi all

This year, we are looking to organise a trip to Norwich on the Saturday. Leaving the venue at 11.30am to catch the train at 12.13pm and returning to North Walsham station for 4.45pm, we are asking if you could let me know if you would be interested in going. For those who have never been to Norwich it has one of the largest outdoor markets, the castle, the cathederal and 2 indoor shopping centres. The cost of a return ticket from North Walsham is £7.50 return.

We are also looking for volunteer drivers to take some bodies to North Walsham and to pick them up from the station. The drivers will hopefully be reimbursed by their passengers.

If you could let me know ASAP if you would like a lift to and from the station, and as importantly if you would be kind enough to volunteer your chauffeuring services, we can sort something out.

WASH Waffle: October 2019

October 2, 2019

From Paul Catterwell of Kings Lynn Plus

Hi all

ONLY 38 DAYS TO WASH!!!

Thank you to all who are attending and the booking officers for sorting their groups out. We are absolutely delighted to announce that we now have exactly the same amount of people as last year attending. WHO WANTS TO BE THE ONE THAT MEANS WE ARE BIGGER THAN LAST YEAR?

The bands are booked, the food and drink are organised, the daytime activities, including the trip to Norwich, the quiz, karaoke and possibly a bit of geocaching, are organised.

Withe a little extra capacity this year we still have a little room so if you are thinking about it, give it a go, you really wont be disappointed. If you are a newbie we will look after you and introduce you around. If you are coming by train or bus we can sort pick up from either Cromer or North Walsham.

We can take extra booking up until the Tuesday before but obviously the more notice we get the better.

See you soon

Kings Lynn Mid Summer Weekend

June 5, 2019

From Paul Catterwell, of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hello Plussers

Friday 19th to Sunday 21st July is the umpteenth Kings Lynn Mid Summer Do.

We are looking forward to many of the usual suspects who have ‘graced’ us with their company over the years and hopefully a few newbies may venture into deepest, darkest Norfolk.

We are happy to pick people up from Watlington train station so if you don’t drive you can still come and enjoy yourselves.

So whats the plan?

You can arrive anytime from 3pm and camping is either on the field or in the woods, or if you don’t do tenting, there are many nooks and crannies in the hall to call your own! Alternatively there is a Travelodge and Premier Inn in Kings Lynn.

About 8pm there will be a buffet

After that there will be a quiz hosted by our very own Mr Keith Israel. Heckling is actively encouraged and is deemed to be compulsory!

Saturday morning will see those who wish try and make a better job of actually catching a train than the fiasco 2 years ago!, Assuming we get on it you have a choice of stopping at Ely or going onto Cambridge. If anyone has any ideas of things they would like to do please let me know and we will see what we can do.

There will be people onsite all day so anyone who is just coming to the disco, who is or is not camping that night can get sorted.

There will be a Chinese and Pizza run so anyone who wants either needs to give their order to us, and hand over some money, by 5pm on Saturday. Food normally arrives about 6.30ish

Disco by another Plus Leg End, Mr Adam Redshaw will start around 8pm until Midnight.

Don’t forget to bring any drinks you need. Hopefully we will have a little discount from Beers of Europe.

The price is £15.00 for Friday & Saturday camping, buffet and disco
£10.00 for Saturday camping & disco
£ 5.00 for disco only

For those who have never been before it is a very chilled out weekend and we have yet to find a bear in the woods.

Hopefully see you on Friday 19th

WASH Waffle: May 2019

May 24, 2019

From Paul Catterwell, of Kings Lynn Plus:

Hi all

WASH 2019 8th to 11th November

Just to let you know that we are running a little behind schedule this year but the WASH booking forms will be out by the end of next week. PRICES REMAIN THE SAME AS LAST YEAR

Following from comments made that we offer limited daytime activities over the weekend due to the restrictions on use of the venue, we will be running the traditional highlight for many, the famous WASH quiz on the Sunday.

On the Saturday we will be offering the chance for those who want to visit Norwich by train. If required we will be organising lifts to and from North Walsham station. For those who have never visited Norwich before, it boasts the regions largest outdoor market, a shopping centre, a multiplex cinema, hundreds of pubs, the cathedral and castle to name but a few attractions. We will need names on the Friday evening in order that we can sort lifts, if required.

By popular demand Karaoke makes a welcome return this year.

Then, in March, there is the National Spring Holiday at Hoburne Park in Christchurch, Dorset: whilst looking ahead to November, WASH, the national Plus holiday in will be returning once again on Friday 8th November.
