Walking Towards A Bright Horizon (Press Release)
A charity for children and families in crisis was the focus of importance last weekend as members of a local community group went on a ten-mile sponsored walk.

Richard, Dave, Sanya and Gemma at Whitechapel, the start of the sponsored walk.
Barking & Dagenham Plus, a social, sporting and leisure group, set off from Whitechapel on Saturday, walking via Stratford, to Chadwell Heath, in order to raise money for “Bright Horizons Foundation For Children,” which provides play environments in places such as domestic violence shelters, to enable them to play, learn and heal from trauma in a place of safety. The walkers managed to raise £400 as a result of their efforts.

Club chairman Richard Leach said:
“Although we are mainly a fun group, we always like to support local good causes, and last year won an award from the National Federation of Plus Areas for doing so. We also like to stage an event like this each September to commemorate our former member Adrian Pembroke who passed away several years ago.
“We will be presenting the cheque to Bright Horizons at one of our regular Tuesday-night meetings in the near future, at the Beacon Tree.”
