Last weekend saw members of Thurrock 18 Plus Group join other members from the East Anglia Area 18 Plus (and several from Barnet 18 Plus as well) at the Annual Quiz in Harold Wood. Thurrock have a proud tradition, having previously won the contest in 2003 but narrowly missing out by a single point to Redbridge in 2004. They had also won last years replacement for the event with a joint team with Barkingside, which was the charity Air Ambulance quiz run by Billericay. So they had a lot to live up to. Fortunately they did not disappoint and, after a close and high scoring first 8 rounds, which was a good team effort, Joe –Thurrock’s Secretary- single handedly scored full marks on the literature round for which they played a tactically brilliant joker. This clinched victory by an impressive six points and left Redbridge reeling. Joe said “Revenge was sweet, we are proud to have taken the title back to Thurrock where it belongs”.

Upcoming events in the East Anglia Area will be the Annual holiday at Brean Sands, Kings Lynn summer party with BBQ and camp over, “Now Get Out of That 2006” and the new Annual Surf weekend in Cornwall.

Thurrock 18 Plus is a lively and friendly sports and social organisation for people in the 18 to 35 age range; it is run completely by its members and offers a wide-ranging programme of regular events, often in conjunction with other groups in East Anglia Area.
