The Annual Celebrity Mystery Challenge!

March 14, 2012
Richard Leach winning the Annual Celebrity Mystery Challenge - with Gemma Crader

Barking & Dagenham Plus chair Gemma Crader presenting the Annual Celebrity Mystery Challenge Cup to Richard.

Mr Richard Leach of Green Lane, Dagenham, was the surprise winner of Barking & Dagenham Plus “Celebrity Mystery Challenge,” which is an annual event, held at the White Horse Pub in Chadwell Heath. This is a fun competition which helps to raise awareness of Plus’ work within the community, as well as being an enjoyable night-out.

Richard said: “We had people from all over Essex come to this, so we had a great crowd there. I am also looking forward to our Charity fund raising events later this year, which include our Darts Tournament and sponsored walk in aid of Haven House.”

“Plus” is a nationwide social organisation for young people aged 18 to 35. The Barking & Dagenham branch meets every Tuesday at the White Horse, Chadwell Heath, from 9pm. For more info, including membership enquiries, please ring Joe on 07958 669339, or visit www.barkingdagenhamplus.com

We have a fresh new committee for 2012, and to reflect the fact we have a brand new Committee page. Clicking on each person’s name will take you their own individual page which has details of what they actually do for Barking & Dagenham Plus.

AGM Results

February 4, 2012

Here is a short summary of what occurred at our recent AGM.

New Committee

The new committee which will serve from March 1st 2012 to February 28th 2013 is as follows:

Chair Gemma Crader
Secretary Sanya Preston
Treasurer Richard Leach
Activities David Sands (1)
Nick Barrett (2)
PRO Joe Gurney
Memberships Officer Charlie Lewis
General Committee Members Allan James (1)
David Rew (2)

The National AGM

The club was generally in favour of the motion to spend £500 of each Area’s money on an “Inspire” style event. Against his better judgement, Joe Gurney agreed to attend the National AGM on the club’s behalf.

Other news

Joe Gurney was named as the winner of the “Adrian Pembroke Trophy,” for service to Barking & Dagenham Plus (mainly for the creation of this website and his work as PRO). :-)

Cue Action!

January 17, 2012

Barking & Dagenham Plus members took part in the Anglia & South East Area Plus Pool Tournament this Sunday, held at Namco Funscape in Romford. This is an annual event which always draws a large crowd of young men and women from all over East Anglia, Essex, east London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Steve Poysden of Redbridge eventually won the tournament, whilst Sanya Preston was the highest placed member of Barking & Dagenham, getting as far as the semi-finals.

Barking & Dagenham Plus’ chair, Miss Gemma Crader, 22, said:

“I love events like this! It is great to be able to come out and have fun and meet so many friends from across the area – and sometimes from across the country as well. Plus often organises sporting tournaments like this as well as sporting events, so there is always something for everyone.”
